I've been driving by this view for the past 7 years thinking about what a great painting it would make. I finally walked the couple hundred yards from East Beach and was greeted with fluffy clouds and a cool breeze. Bike riders and stroller pushers where giving my thumbs ups and waves as they cruised by.

There should be more buildings like the Santa Barbara Courthouse. The centerpiece is the huge arch and sunken garden. The designer must of had a good understanding of the local climate to create such a harmonious balance of nature and structure.

There is another road besides San Marcos Pass that connects our front country with the Santa Ynez Valley. North Refugio Road has a magical feeling. I spent the day with the cows, butterflies and the lady bugs. Down by the bubbling brook below the the ancient moss covered trees I thought I might of seen one or two fairies.

The wind usually picks up in the afternoon out on the wharf. Many times when I have been out there painting, it will die down just before sunset and theres a perfect 1/2 hour and the view looks and feels like this.
